Police Quest: Open Season
Police Quest 4: Open Season is the fourth and final game in the epic Police Quest series of games by Sierra before the SWAT series began. The game was released in 1993. The game is listed as Police Quest 4 (PQ4) in the manual. It is also shown in the file names and the credits, and when exiting the game in DOS, "Thank you for playing Police Quest IV: Open Season". The number does not appear on the title screen. This game differs from the previous 3 games, being designed by Daryl F. Gates, who replaced Jim Walls who designed the first 3. The player takes on the role of John Carey, a homicide detective, in Los Angeles. The point and click interface from Police Quest 3 is retained, and thankfully the annoying DRM of the second game that was dropped for Police Quest 3 has been left out of this title also. This game is available on Good Old Games as part of the Police Quest 1-4 pack, and utilizes DOSBox to play on modern systems. In addition to the games, the buyer also gets the game manuals, maps, and reference cards in PDF format. |
