| I sent it on Friday. But since the local mail only does recorded deliveries on Monday-Friday, it was delivered yesterday. Apparently, since the track&trace site still hasn't updated from 'underway' to 'delivered'. But I've been sent the replacement by the vendor already, so I'll just assume it arriv... |

| Well, I'm glad it's the RAM. Because it's the easiest part to replace. I don't even have to move my pc from it's place to do so. Were it to be the MoBo, I'd have to disassemble everything. Look at the 2D power draw of the 5870! :shock:
When I read that I thought you were saying it's skyhigh. Then I looked at the graphs. Quite impressive. Does lower than the high end 2xx series of nVidia at load as well. |

I have heard someone complain about severe performance issues though. Seems to be an isolated incident so far though. |

| The only way you can diagnose is to swap the RAM sticks around, and see how the problem re-manifests itself. Already done. Currently waiting for the next failure. It did not fail today. | I've done memtest per chip, and the middle DIMM has failed it at first, right at the first pass already. When I retried later, it didn't fail anymore. Maybe because it's had power recently... On a side note:
My pc case is currently standing on the floor. Which comes with its share of static and dust. Anyone know of a small type of 'table' on which I could put it something like 10cm above the floor? Wheels would be a nice addition. |
