I haven't had any problems with stability with Crysis so far. My only problems are some performance issues, but I know that's my machine :P.

You pick a realm. There are multiple types of realms: PVP, PVE, RP, RP-PVP. If you make an alliance or horde character on a realm, you can only make other characters of the same faction on that realm. You can pick a different realm to make a character of a different faction. Mhm. It's usually quite easy to tell when an MMO is going to die, by the time they get there subs are at rediculously low numbers.

They just die. The only way private servers pop up are if people took the time to emulate the servers for the game.

Speaking of BF2142, that's exactly what EA did. Full game price, ingame ads, unstable/buggy release, it was basically the worst of all worlds.
