| UPDate: i TRIED THE MATROX Powerdesk and it seems to do most of what I need, just set 3 columns (1.1 1.2 1.3), then set maximise windows to "in same cell as current window", very happy :) hope this helps someone else out frustrated by the 5760x1080 mode (who new matrox and nvidia would playnice).
