Take a look @ this: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/HD_5870_PCI-Express_Scaling/18.html I realize this is SoC, but if you compare the PCIex scaling to the other games in that article it would seem to suggest that there is indeed something odd about the xRay engine's scaling capabilities as it...

I hate to admit this given the forum, but I gave up last night on running this game in tri-screen goodness. I just couldn't find a good balance between eye-candy and performance. On top of that, the HUD drove me crazy. :-/ I do find it odd how poorly this engine scales to larger resolutions. The oth...

Anyone else notice that you cannot use DX10 lighting at 5040+ res, like the old issue that was fixed months back? On nVidia (196.34) and Win7.

Good point, I thought the game looked flat; that's what it is.

Here are the impressive results from 10.3 + DiRT2 in DX11 Ultra settings: 1600x1200 (I only bench in 4:3 for simplicity's sake) 4xAA/16xANISO dirt2.exe -benchmark example_benchmark2.xml 10.2: AVERAGE FPS: 60.93 10.3: AVERAGE FPS: 71.27 0xAA/0xANISO 10.2: AVERAGE FPS: 72.49 10.3: AVERAGE FPS: 89.13 A...

Holy cow, I'm seeing huge performance gains with the leaked 10.3 over 10.2 and 10.1 in DX11 DiRT2... My benchmark suite is still running but I'll post the numbers later. The performance in most other games tested is back to the levels of 10.1, as 10.2 was a minor hit for alot of older games...

Oh no! Quake 3 now runs at 800 fps instead of 842 fps! It's fun to compare with hardware from 10 years ago. I have Quake 2 in there too if you want that. Edit: and actually the reason I look at that stuff is because (and I'm no driver programmer) I suspect some of those things may spea...

I'm going to post this because after looking through I'm a little concerned about the performance loss on some older games. This is the biggest % drop I've seen from a driver release in awhile, but interestingly enough alot of the newer games performance is relatively untouched. I've used this scrip...

I'm a fan, they fixed my two biggest gripes: 1> Main monitor won't properly go into sleep mode (does now) 2> Eyfinity profiles won't load correctly (do now!) Hooray. I have extensive benchmark results I could post too if people want; I've got a benchmark script that I put driver releases through the...

No issues here whatsoever; in fact this is one of the few games I can run at eyefinity resolution w/ 4x AA enabled comfortably. You've definitely got the system for it; I'm not sure what could be wrong... you're not enabling AA or ANISO via CP on top of it being enabled in-game are you?

[quote] Please note that this information floating around the internet is not correct. These settings refer to the sound envelope used by the game. (War Tapes, Hi-Fi, Headphones, etc.) Different sound profiles tax your cpu more or less depending on the effects, etc. applied to them. Also note that ...

The beta will be out this month, but what are the odds it will support surround? I really doubt it cause blizzard is pretty anal about making it "fair". But seeing how WoW worked, who knows. Did WC3 work? I imagine their stance will be very measured on Starcraft, regardless of which way they decide...

Here's a tip I just tried & gained a noticable increase in fps. I have an X-Fi card so set mine to 3. GameSettings.ini : SoundSystemSize= 1 software(default) / 2 hardware / 3 XFI Update...holy cow, this setting makes a BIG difference. I'm getting at least +5 fps from this. Please note that this inf...

Canceled my pre-order with Steam. One of my CoD buddies canceled his preorder as well, the game is just not to our liking. Meh, honestly the fewer people convert from CoD the better for my tastes. We don't need an entire team of lone wolf "l33t sn1perz" running around the map. (not that you or ever...

Unfortunately I've found a bug that I've seen in some other forums as well... With my monitor configuration, my monitors will no longer go to sleep automatically. I'm using a DellP2210 via display port, a Sony FW-900 via a DVI->VGA adapter, and a Samsung226CW via DVI. I can put the computer to sleep...
