I know this is an older thread, but I just wanted to share that I've come to the same conclusions. Last year I purchased a 4790k and ran it with a 690 and 290x after quite a bit of research that led me to believe AMD was simply inferior, only to realize the devil's canyon i7 was probably way more CP...
