Post subject:  Can't log in? Try this

If you are having trouble logging in, it may be due to the old cookies for this website. Please try clearing your cookies and then try logging back in.

On Google Chrome, click on the spanner icon, and then choose Options. Choose Under the Hood (or Under the Bonnet), then Content Settings. Under Cookies, click All cookies and site data. Search for widescreen and delete any cookies relating to this site. You should now be able to log in. On Firefox, click Tools and then Options. Select the Privacy panel, and then choose Use Custom Settings for History. This will enable the Show Cookies button, click it. Search widescreen and delete any cookies related to the site. You should now be able to log in. On Internet Explorer, navigate to Google. Type in 'download Google Chrome' and follow the steps to get a real browser.

I have made an article with this same information and published it on the front page to help people trying to log in.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Of course, that only applies if you don't have Firefox set to clear all cookies on exit, or some similar thing.

In your scenario, they would still experience the login/out bug until they closed the browser. FWIW.

Post subject:  Cookies not my problem

I deleted the former Widescreen cookie (Firefox 11), and then discovered that wasn't my problem.

What seems to be happening for me is that not only does it take an unusually long time to validate my username/password initially, but then every time I click on a new page the system is re-validating my username/password! Sometimes the wait is 2-3 minutes--just to load a new page. This is definitely some kind of bug related to the way the site is validating username/password at log on, it would seem.

When I log out, however, article page loads in the site are nearly instantaneous--so there's no server/bandwidth problem between us that is obvious. The slowdowns revolve around username/password validation on the site--or so it certainly appears from my end.

This happened the very first time I logged in, and with every attempted page load on the site thereafter--until I logged out, at which point things were snappy again. I think some people are simply giving up with the delay and think they cannot log in--but I'll bet they can, if they'll just wait long enough.

I enjoyed the surround-Eyefinity-2Go comparison, but agreed with few of its observations and conclusions (not even sure why the Matrox gear was even tested as it seems at best obsolete), but I can't actually comment on the review until this page-load problem is rectified because I like to cut and paste from the original review and then write in my observations--and at the moment that would take far too long with these delays.

Hope this info is of some value...!...;) Very nice site, otherwise.
