This is my first detailed report, so please bear with me.
If you want to see the full size pics, go to my screenshot post

==Game Information==

They thought you were dead, but Tony Montana doesn't die so easy. Sosa took everything you had. Now you've got nothing, but that never stopped you before. You're back with a vengeance, ready to reclaim your turf and rebuild your empire. All you've got are your balls - and your word.
(copied from the official site, scarfacegame.com)

==Version==

I have tested everything on both 1.00.1 (retail version) and the 1.00.2 patch.

==Method==

The game supports widescreen natively, you can can change resolutions in the options menu, but it doesn't seem to support all the common resolutions. I used Quazimojo's solution to get non-native resolutions.

==Screen change==

When using any widescreen resolution, the game is Horizontal + whether the resolution is changed via the options menu or the registry. The FOV adjusts correctly automatically.

4:3 gameplay screenshot (1280x960):

16:10 gameplay screenshot (1680x1050):
NOTE: The HUD elements are complete when playing the game at this resolution.

16:9 gameplay screenshot (1280x720):

==Supported resolutions==

On my 6800GT with 22" 1680x1050 LCD, the only the following two widescreen resolutions appear:
1280x720 (16:9)
1680x1050 (16:10)
I had to change the registry to get the rest to work.

List of widescreen resolutions the game successfully ran at:
1280x720
1440x900
1680x1050

List of widescreen resolutions that were not tested:
1280x768
1280x800
1920x1080
1920x1200
I couldn't due to hardware limitations.

List of widescreen resolutions the game fails to run at:

==Singleplayer anomalies==

After playing the game 10+ hours, I have not found any anomalies.

==Multiplayer support==

Scarface has no multiplayer.

==Aspect ratio support==
See the screenshots above, the game properly distinguishes between 16:9 and 16:10, the 16:9 has more pixels on the sides.

==HUD stretch==

The HUD and menus maintain their relative position, sizes and proportions on all resolutions. (see screenshots above for HUD)

4:3 map screenshot (1280x960):

16:10 map screenshot (1680x1050):

16:9 map screenshot (1280x720):

==Cut-scenes==

The cutscenes are also Hor+

4:3 ingame-rendered cut-scene screenshot (1280x960):

16:10 ingame-rendered cut-scene screenshot (1680x1050):

16:9 ingame-rendered cut-scene screenshot (1280x720):

==Grading==

Calculated grade: C+
Potential grade: B+

Major unresolved issues:
Are 1280x768 and 1280x800 supported?
If so, are they supported natively, or is the registry hack required?

Minor unresolved issues:
Are 1920x1080 and 1920x1200 supported?

Summary of widescreen-related flaws:
Registry hack required for 1440x900

Cranky's coverage estimate: 89%

==Screen change==

FYI, there *is* FOV change. I think what you mean is that you do not need to manually adjust the FOV; the game does it for you.

==Supported resolutions==

1280x768 and 1280x800 should be under "untested." If Windows doesn't know how to invoke a certain resolution, neither will any game.

In the 16:10 Gameplay screenshot the Hud seems to be missing some elements.

Is it just the screenshot or is it like that?

Yeah i noticed that too

Im assuming it might be the screen shot because otherwise that would be on the list on unsolved problems

That's a good point. I noticed it too, but my assumption was that it was context-sensitive information. But further thinking about it tells me this isn't likely.

TC, can you explain why the information isn't there in the 16:10 shot?

Hmmm, for some reason I didn't notice that when I put up the picture. I think it was because I took the shot too soon after changing settings so the info took a bit longer to appear. I do play the game regularly at that resolution, so the HUD elements are complete and I've never noticed them gone before.

I can't take another shot for proof as of now because I am using only my 19" 1280x1024 monitor. I took my widescreen home for my family to use as a TV while our regular TV is getting fixed. When I get the chance, I will replace the pic with another screenshot with the correct HUD in place.

1280x768, 1280x800, 1920x1080 and 1920x1200 are all natively supported in v1.002.

The game ran successfully at 1280x720, 1280x768, 1360x768, 1440x900, 1680x1050, 1920x1200, 1920x1080, 2560x1600.
Widescreen resolutions that are natively supported in v1.002 : 1280x720, 1280x768, 1280x800, 1680x1050, 1920x1080, 1920x1200.
Widescreen resolutions that require the registry hack : 1360x768, 1440x900, 2560x1600.

All ARs supported and Hor+.

For some reason texts and numbers don't always show up on screenshots, but the HUD is fully functional in all resolutions.

1024x768 (4:3)

1280x800 (16:10)

1360x768 (16:9)

The first-person Blind Rage mode has "theatrical letterboxing", but it's still strictly Hor+.

1024x768 (4:3)

1280x800 (16:10)

1360x768 (16:9)

==Surround Gaming Support==

Registry hack required, excellent support though : Hor+ gameplay & real-time cut scenes, unstretched/pillarboxed intro videos, unstretched centered HUD...
Mouse sensitivity seems tied to the display width, so even at 10 it feels a bit low. Fortunately you can edit that in the registry too, and set it beyond the in-game max. Setting the Mouse value to 20 in the registry works great in 5040.

5040x1050

Talk about a belated update. Grade is now B+.
Lack of native 1440x900 is the one and only blemish.
