Anyone know of any Software, patches, to make games that does not support WideScreen to really support widescreen with more In Game view of the area.

for example, War Craft III

it's a RTS game, it'll be great to be able to see more of the map-world, rather than just have the image Stretched.

currently very few games natively supports in Game wide area view.

most of the fixes and hacks listed in this website, it only stretches the game, it doesn't really offer true wide screen area of view.

it'll be nice if we can patch all the old games to work with wide screen, like some racing games for example, or Diablo 2, etc....

If you check out the master list for games you can get information on how to get games running in "real" widescreen. Some games do not have support at all, even with ini mods, for FOV changes but a lot require the ini to be moded.

I have to disagree. Many of the solutions discovered here will allow HOR+ viewing. Be sure to read the notes when checking titles. HOR+ is what you are looking for. Certainly there are lots of games that will not allow us to play in true widescreen. Blame the developers.

Diablo 2 is a 2D game with pre-rendered 2D backdrops, this game/engine simply doesn't allow the wider viewing area.

As far as software goes, UNIWS is a good one, but only supports the certain list of games that it has hacked/editted. You can always try ArtMoney or Hex editors to try and hack the game's executable. This method is not exactly easy and often does not work, but some of us have had some success at it.

On a side note - Warcraft III and Starcraft were two of the first RTS games I played on my Cinema Display. I didn't even noticed the stretching at all and played them both to death.....

Of course you can always scale the aspect for older games that are locked at 800x600 or lower resolutions, but they already look kinda blocky/funky anyway, so why not just stretch 'em and fill the whole screen? Your choice of course - have fun either way!
