I used quick save quite liberally throughout the game since going into the menu and overwriting an existing save just took too long for how often I saved.

I usually cleared all but the most recent saves either before or after a session, though, to keep the save folder from becoming too bloated.

Load times are pretty quick I find. A few seconds each. Some areas more than others. Before the patch, they were annoyingly slow, but they have drastically improved now.

I mostly rely on the quicksave and autosave, only making other saves at critical points.

Enabling NTFS compression on the saves folder reduces the space taken by 35%.... that'll save ya 500MB of space zubyo :)

But does it affect the save files? (like not beeing able to load them once they are under compression)

No, drive compression is transparent to the applications on your PC. I've enabled it on my saves folder and suffered no adverse effects. You trade CPU time for disk time (and which is faster?) :)

Shouldn't do, as the compression is at the file-system level, and therefore transparent, rather than at the file level (like putting each file in a .ZIP file)...

Might slow loading/saving a little, though.

There is no appreciable difference in loads or saves after enabling folder compression for me.

As with so much in computers, YMMV. ;) NTFS compression hits my single core rig quite hard when I enable it and try to access the compressed files if they're large. My dual core rigs don't even blink. Can also be attributed to the efficiency of the HDDs (as they're different) and the chipset in the boards.

It's quite possible for the compression to speed up disk accesses as well. So if you've got a fast processor (especially dual-core or more) you may be able to speed up the level loads a bit. Assign the witcher to the second core and let the first core handle the compression.

I picked up the UK version and apparently no one is in to instructions over there.

How do I fight in OTC mode? What is the diff between left and right-click?

I know to click when the flaming sword appears but there is a bunch of other crap and the witcher is getting it handed to him.

FYI, there is also an enhanced version on the way that registered users can download as a patch.
