The game still looks hella sweet. The shadow system on the ribcages and stuff are still there, and all that stuff, right?

Unfortunately, the shadow system used to make that ribcage cast those sweet shadows is gone. From my understanding no objects except for the player character and tress will cast shadows.

There should atleast be an option to turn that on....for those people who's system may be able to handle it.....

Does the 360 version use it?

There will be no option to turn it on (not in the menu or in the .ini file). The entire shadow system as seen in the first E3 video has been completely removed from the game in both the XBox 360 and PC versions. Don't even get me started on the water. :(

Whay would they do that?
Is it because they couldn't integrate it or because they just think nobody will be able to run that.
If the last than they are pretty stupid.

To be fair, Morrowind pushed systems to their limit long after it was released... I wouldn't be surprised if Oblivion does the same. ES3's min spec was P3 500 or something, I think... and it used to bring my 1.2GHz Thunderbird/GeForce3Ti500 to it's knees if you turned up the draw distance...

I want all the effects, I admit. I hope they add them in a patch again...

The reason Morrowind "pushed limits" is that it was poorly scripted. Even playing on a modern day computer it can still lag in certain areas. As it stands the game is highly CPU bound. It may have had to do a lot with the NetImmerse engine that was used.

For Oblivion, I seriously doubt they will be able to provide a patch that will add the shadow system back. That doesn't stop me from hoping they try do it though. Time will tell guess.

I've heard excuses that because of the Havoc physics the shadows had to be removed for performance reasons. If you would set off a fireball in a house all of the items hit would go flying and each one of those had to cast it's own dynamic shadow. That's just what I've heard so I am not sure about that. Even without the shadows, I don't think this game will run well at 1920 X 1200 with settings on high and additional eye candy on even the most stout rig.

I've never been exactly at the recommended specs before. :(

This game is gonna make my rig hurt when it tries to run it :p

This makes me think I'm going to get the game for 360 instead of PC.

I want mods and whatnot, but when I get my 2405fpw my comp just won't be able to handle the games at the high resolutions like it can now (2.8ghz p4, 2 gigs pc3200, x800xt)

They also said in an interview somewhere that the 360 version will run and look the same as a top pc when you play it on an HDTV.

That game is going to bring my rig to it's knees. Well, I could run it easily, but I like the chrome!

heh, ditto, your specs are ~10-15% faster than mine, but i'll still see what i can run...

Running around town with 12 fps! WOOH!
