When I think of worthy add-ons I think of things like Shivering Isles, Lord of Destruction, Throne of Baal, and United Offensive. Standalone expansions are just separate games.

The Frozen Throne was a good one aswell, 5-6 extra hours of singleplayer, a bunch of new stuff online, a handful of game tweaks, new units etc.

That's funny, I'd call all of these "expansion packs"... "Add-on" sounds a lot like "more items and not much else", and does not really apply to RPGs. Like the Fortune Pack for Far Cry 2 or the bonus cars in NFS Shift 1.2. Probably just my bad english and compartmented brains, though.

Okay, that was not so funny.

Expansions to me have to be almost a stand alone with a very large amount of new gameplay, however is used on the engine or otherwise.

Addons are more like new tweaks or something of the sort.

Map Packs I don't really consider in DLC, they're just map packs...

15-20 DLC is the thing I have a problem with... 2-3 hours of content = not worth it.

So Mass Effect 2 has alraeady had 6+ expansions?

Please consider my usage of add-on as anything that is added onto a game.

First they "forgot" what the letters FOV stand for, and now they invent a new meaning for "DLC". Fascinating. :nudgenudge

A hooker already knows how to do the expensive stuff, you just have to pay extra for it. It appears all whores are the same.
