I meant no disrespect :) I just noticed that the post on gearbox contains more useful tweaks and was recently updated. :rockout

Handy recollection of essential manual settings (vsync, AA, FOV) :
http://filenetworks.blogspot.com/2009/10/borderlands-how-to-enable-vsync-enable.html

@SV : I don't get it, are DX10 features broken in Borderlands in Win7 or is there no DX10 at all in the game ? :? Your posts and this got me confused.

That's ancient news... don't know what else to tell you. The game never runs in DX10, fraps never has a black background, I benchmarked "-dx9" on and off and saw no difference, the pictures people have posted to prove "DX10 hacks" is just depth of field on versus off.

Nothing else to say really.

So that interview ends up being a crapload of damned lies ?!
Thanx for the info, now I know I can install the game in XP when/if I buy it and not "lose" anything :)

Probably yes, similarly to this interview:

Well, that's true. The higher res and forced AA do a lot for the hand-drawn art style.

Forcing FSAA is not a simple matter - most non-advanced users will never turn it on. It's not officially supported, meaning devs did not intend PC version of the game to have FSAA at all. And even if it works, black outlines on objects are not anti-aliased at all.

Has anyone got their default backup .ini files?

For both

Code:
C:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/borderlands/WillowGame/Config

Code:
My Documents/My Games/Borderlands/WillowGame/Config

I can't find my USB memory stick with them :/

All was well in Vista, but now I have Win 7 it does not seem to read the .ini files the same way.

In vista making a change if it did not work in game I just had to choose "reset to default" and it worked but on Win 7 if I do that it will really reset the file to default and I lose my changes.

I had to make the file read only, but what a pain. Keeps seeming to reset the engine.ini file to stock too so it wont skip the intro movies.

His only point was that the higher res and added effects on PC will make the game look better, and it does, so I don't see the issue.
