[quote]I think the USB interface will bottleneck the bandwidth even if it does work.

If he/she installs the game on a good 7200 external drive (Iomega for example) and the OS on the C drive (4200 speed), he will see improvement in speed. I know, I have done it in the past.

Not as much if he installs a 7200 drive as C, or what you said, but he will see difference.
That doesn't mean he will stop having his current problem, since I am not 100% what is causing it.
You'll experience bottlenecking, but it will still be better then a 5400 rpm drive.

Discussions tends to be heated sometimes... ;) Don't forget that you and ViciousXUSMC are on the same team (insiders). I've deleted the offending content and hopefully the discussion can continue in an civilized manner. :D

Of course! I just will never have somebody try to correct me when I was never wrong. I wouldnt expect anything less out of anybody else.

I wasn't trying to correct you, i was just pointing out that there were drives that were 7200rpm and over 200gb.

I was under the impression that you were talking about hard drives in general, and you were under the impression that it was obvious it was about laptop drives.

For future reference, instead of calling me an idiot, you could have just said "I'm talking about laptop drives". Which you never stated.

Update: Runs GREAT on my laptop.

8600GT (slower version 512mb of DDR2 memory vs the 256mb of GDDR3 wich runs about 1000 points higher in 3dmark) w/ e6600

took abit of work to get it to run, had to get the new video card drivers installed, then find the DX10 update. That was much less work than what it took to get it to run on my desktop tho.

I had none of the sound problems I had on my desktop with the notebook aswell.

@pikachu PM me please the mods already said if we had something to say to one another to PM it. Your tone sounded rude to me so I had a retort deal with it.

As for the 3rd party patch that apparently allows shader model 2.0 to play 3.0 games (blanking on the name), would that decrease performance or increase it? Anyone know?

Will probably increase performance but at a cost of alot of visual quality. If you have an old card tho that doesnt support SM3.0 then its better than nothing.
