I wouldnt worry Paddy, itll still look 100x better than the 360 version with HDR at 1920x1200 :)

Thanks buddy ... :D
I hate jaggies even at 1920x1200 ... I have a particular eye for detail ...

Killik121 was kind enough to post some screenshots ... 8)
However ... the jaggies in those shots ... as far as I'm concerned ... are terrible and unacceptable ... I guess it's going to be no HDR for me ... :(

I know ... I know ... I'm a fussy git ...

I find HDR to be more of a hindrance than a help - it's eye candy, certainly, but it makes it a lot harder to play (*cough*NeedforSpeed:MostWanted*cough*)

It does make it a little harder, but its nice to watch!

And i cant really blame the outcome of my 18 minute chace, avoiding 24 spikestrips, 800,000 bounty, getting all 4 milestones, and then hitting a spikestrip round a corner :x, on HDR. I guess ill have to do it again later :)

The HDR in oblivion in no way hinders play. Need for speed most wanted simply blows its effects out of perportion. Also I am fairly certain its just a super sized bloom effect since light levels dont change underground/in tunnels.

Thats a bit overkill but i know what you mean :)

Playing NFS at 1920x1200 and i still notice lots of jaggies, but id rather have the eye candy then enable AA.

Ive only ever used AA since i built my new machine (in november), i had a 9800Pro up until then and didnt use AA on anything. Im just used to them since i spend a lot of time on my Win 98 machine playing at 640x480 :)

Hang on, you mean you need to turn off AA on NFS:MW to get playable framerates with everything at max? :?

I cant turn the shadows up to max, if i do the framerate goes down to 32ish, which is a bit low for NFS. I turn down road reflections too, as it seems to improve performance, but the visual difference isnt huge.

Out systems are pretty simular except that you have a 4000+ while mine is an X2 4200+.

Youve got a fair few extra mhz over me on that one, even if it is a dualcore!

Actually, ive been quite tempted to drop the dual core and get an FX-57.... or FX-55.... and maybe get a faster dualcore somewhere down the line.
:?

EDIT: Just reinstalled the catalyst drivers and set the ATI overclock thing on, and im running everything maxed out (but no AA) at around 50fps, it dips to 35 every now and then, but runs at over 70 at times :)

Strange thing is, that NFS doesent offer me any AA in the ingame menu with my X1900, it did with my 7800GT.

Actually, the other option would be to drop the SSF case, buy a new motherboard, and overclock the hell out of the X2. Which im quite tempted to do!
