Post subject:  TDU in Shader Level 2 !?

Hi All !! How are you ?

Just wanted to know if any1 knows if a real great programmer can make TDU run in shader level 2 (DirectX 8.1) Like what they did in Bioshock for the lower leverl users ?

Somehow it must be possible ?

Hi! I'm fine.

What's TRU?

And SM2.0 requires Dx9.

Pixel Shaders 1.1 (DirectX 8.0)
Pixel Shaders 1.3 (DirectX 8.1)
Pixel Shaders 1.4 (DirectX 8.1)
Pixel Shaders 2.0 (DirectX 9.0)
Pixel Shaders 3.0 (DirectX 9.0c)
Pixel Shaders 4.0 (DirectX 10.0) ...Maybe 9.0L in the near future?

Possible doesn't mean practical. Surely, it COULD be done, but may reuqire tens or even hundreed of man-hours.

I'm presuming that it means Test Drive Unlimited or something along those lines.

And generally you need some competent coders who have the time and enthusiasm to try to back-engineer something like that. Either that or for someone to be really lucky with finding a little something hidden in the game's files.
