Seeing as how the JRPG market is reportedly in decline I have decided to do some market research for the industry. :mrgreen: There is a belief that JRPGs don't sell well on the PC. Which got me thinking about how many true JRPGs(Japanese Publishers/Companies) have actually been released for the PC. Here is a list of all PC JRPG games in English that I can think of. I used the English requirement because the non-hentai Japanese PC game market is tiny. PQ-Port quality ET-Estimated time of PC release from original game in NA Final Fantasy VII (PQ - Below Average/ET - 9 months) Final Fantasy VIII (PQ - Below Average/ET - 4 months) Grandia II (PQ - Poor/ET - 13 months) Breath of Fire IV (EU version only)(PQ - Average/ET - 34 months) The Last Remnant (PQ - Good/ET - 5 months) What am I missing? Is this enough to draw conclusions about JRPG PC performance? |

the non-hentai Japanese PC game market is tiny.I didn't know that. Japan is such a tragic country. What am I missing?Sales figures maybe ? :? And korean MMORPG market growth. |

Sales figures maybe ? I am trying to get a complete list before I worry about that. I think I may already have it. And korean MMORPG market growth. I should have specified but singleplayer stuff only. |

Did you mean that the hentai Japanese PC game market is actually bigger ? didn't realize it was that way, I thought there was not much of those around and most of it is old stuff done years ago... (note: just asking for the sake of it, since I realize discussing or linking to adult stuff is probably against the rules of this board since some of our viewers are probably underage although I don't think a whole lot of them would dare to come here :mrgreen: ) About PC JRPGs, well I don't know much about that, didn't see a whole lot of them and not much of decent quality (at least in france) and I saw a supposedly well known japanese mangaka saying that France is the 2nd biggest market after Japan for Manga/Anime stuff :mrgreen: Mind you, maybe I just need to be educated about their existence since I'm far from being omniscient :mrgreen: |

Did you mean that the hentai Japanese PC game market is actually bigger ? Hentai games are basically the only games that get played on PC over there. |

We've gotten to a point where PSX and PS2 emulation is really really good so now a lot of great jrpgs are playable on PC. You should look into it. |
