the original game will be making a return to consoles with as a downloadable title with a High Definition re-touch

The game, with a much higher 1080p resolution, will also sport a newly re-mastered soundtrack.

I find it simultaneously amusing and frustrating that they can change the resolution from 640x480 to 1280x720, call it an "HD remaster," and sell it a second time, when you can do that with any PC game made since Quake II for free. I did hear that they are going to "touch up" the textures, but who knows what that actually means. In the case of God of War Collection, they didn't do *anything* to the graphics but bump the resolution up a notch and enable FSAA.

I called it a HD remaster. They have it as a sound remaster with an HD touch-up.

I think touching up the textures means adding some AF, I doubt they will do any new assets for this.

When I read or hear the words 'remastered soundtrack' it just makes me think that they couldn't get the rights for the old music (for whatever reason, as that is quite common if the composer has moved on from the company) and so have had to bodge together something new to cover for it.

Of course, that might be wrong in this case, but it's happened in the past more times than I care to think.

As for HD retouch... add some AA and AF; done. I suspect.

Disgaea PSP. Most of the music is the same, couple of bits were yanked 'cause they couldn't get the rights for it again.

Also, no music in Quake 2 on Steam...?

I'm certain that Quake 2's lack of music is because they were too lazy to convert it to ogg/mp3, not because of rights. The original used redbook audio, which isn't digital distribution friendly. Every single Id game that doesn't use redbook audio, including Quake III, comes with all the music. And every game on Steam (regardless of company) that *did* originally use redbook audio, with the sole exception of Half-Life, is missing the music.

This is likely, since they don't care about people converting and providing the music.
