Can't get a big publisher on board? Oh well.

Point and Click Adventure?

UPDATE: We did it! 100% funded in just over eight hours. You people are amazing! But it's not over yet. The number keeps going up and now the question is just how much news do we want to make with this? We're getting a lot of attention already and it seems like this little project could have an impact beyond itself

Psychonauts 2?

The news was Markus “Notch” Persson, better known as the creator of Minecraft, offered to pony up the cash to help make Psychonauts 2 on Twitter. Persson claims he’s serious about it.

Responding to questions on Twitter, Avellone said "I'm down" when asked about using Kickstarter to develop an "old school" isometric role-playing game. He responded again with "I'm down" to requests to build a "classic RPG."

According to a new update from Avellone on Twitter, he is now sorting through the submissions and will have an update on the prospect of a Kickstarter program at Obsidian "soon."

Double Fine just finished their Massive Chalice kickstarter last week and have just come out and said their adventure game that really started the kickstarter video game craze is out of money and only half done. They are going to try and sell early access to the first half of the game on Steam to pay for the rest.

Considering how volatile development budgets for video games are I imagine a few of the other big name kickstarter titles may end up having these financing problems as well. There are reasons publishers aren't funding these games.

Hopefully this doesn't get ugly.

If you don't consider this already ugly, I don't know what is.

I was thinking more about the fate of Kickstarted games outside of DF's at this point. They seem to have stepped in it even though their name has mostly shielded them from most of the criticisms.

Although if they don't make enough off of the Steam early access sales maybe they will rate a new adjective.
