alt+tab in game dont work fine.. for play aoc on windows 7.. dont need kill or suspend explorer.exe.. only choose the windows classic theme for windows and later on desktop.. click on windows resolution and keep it running.. open aoc normally. This will solve the problem of who plays online at voobly or GameRanger

:D

Thank you for this patch. I tried to find some patch to be able to play this game without any workaround (uninstalling graphics drivers etc.). This patch solved all my problems. Thanks again!

Hi all! NEW COLOR ISSUE solution under W7 Is HERE!!!

I upgraded a little bit the original generated "aoe2wide" batch file :rockout (I took & used "process.exe") to an automatic application, which runs in background and is able to immediately suspend (or delayed suspend) explorer AFTER the "age2_x1.exe" (AOC) is started, so new color FIX solution for Windows 7 is here! NO MORE BATCH file is necessary!

So, this is absolutely SINGLEplayer/MULTIplayer gaming independent!!!

You can use your aoe2wide generated .exe file together with this my "AOC color FIX" app., but you have to rename it to "age2_x1.exe" (and of course put it to Age2_X1 game folder).

All necessary informations and my e-mail address are included in the readme!

Looking forward for your first tests :searchplease

Have fun !!!!

P.S.: Virus FREE :D

Note that the batch file ALSO added a command line parameter to age2_x1_AAAxBBB.exe - usually 1280, sometime 1024 or 800 depending on your resolution which seems to be important for the patch to work correctly.... Does your exe pass its command line params through to age2_x1.exe ?
Alternatively, you make it so fancy that it looks at the primary screen resolution, derives the 'source' resolution of the patched aoc (1280x1024, 1024x768 or 800x600) and passes the correct value as cmd line param to age2_x1.exe ?

Hello, maybe I did not understand correctly, but only thing, that AOC W7 color FIX do is watching for process "age2_x1.exe" in process list. If this is started, the app. suspend/kill explorer. It has nothing to do with any of age2_x1.exe versions. You can test my app. on any .exe file, if you rename it to age2_x1.exe. If you use any of age2_x1_AAAAxBBBB.exe format, my application will not realize, that AOC has started.

To widescreen patch: I used age2wide patch to have 1680x1050 resolution. I installed it correctly and it works perfectly. I just do not start the game through batch file, but I use only to start the game the new generated age2_x1_1680x1050.exe (placed in game root folder) file. I renamed it back to age2_x1.exe by hand and copied back to Age2_X1 folder over the original .exe (also by myself). This is due to be able to play on GameRanger (GameRanger requires to have executable with original name).

Or, did you ask for something else? :)

Yes. What I meant is that the patch does not always work correctly if you start the exe without specifying the resolution on the command line. Sometimes it does, maybe after setting it in the game once, but not always, This was the primary reason for creating the batch file.

Yes, I see, you are right => "age2_x1_1.0e_1920x1200.exe" 1280 => I understand now, the command line included in batch file you talk about is skipped using the patch in way, i wrote above. I didn't even know about this topic. I did not realize any problems yet with skipping it. But with batch file you cannot play on servers like GameRanger etc., which require .exe file.
