i have ben trying to make doom3 play at 1440x900 for a wile and i cant. can somone tell me exactly what to type in. in the order i should type it in. |

i tried entering this seta r_customHeight "900" seta r_customWidth "1440" seta g_fov "100" seta r_mode "-1" i entered exactly what you see here nothing more nothing less at the mane menu and nothing happend did i do somthing rong |

from what I'm reading, your real problem is that text needs to be entered into a text file located here: baseDoomConfig.cfg Open this file with the windows notepad program and change the lines you need, then save the file. Then when you start the game up the resolution should be correct. Nothing is entered in the main menu. |

You've forgotten an important step. You need to change another line in the .cfg file. "seta r_aspectRatio "0"" controls the aspect ratio of the game. "1" sets it to 16:9. "2" sets it to 16:10. You don't even have to enter the FOV line. If you change the above line to "2", the game will automatically use the correct FOV for 1440x900 so that the 3D world isn't stretched or squished. My projector is 16:9 and using "1" worked great. I assume that by using the FOV command you could override the correct FOV for either 16:9 or 16:10, but why would you want to do that? Leave the FOV line alone and just change the aspectRatio line! 8) |

ok so i got doom oh and by the way half of those lines wernt there so i inserted them in manually what file do i go to for reserection of evil and can you make call of duty fit a screen of 1440x900 and what about unreal tournement 2004 |

ok so i got doom Do you mean you got it working in widescreen? Remember, just delete the FOV line in the config file. You don't need it. Use "0" for 4:3, "1" for 16:9 and "2" for 16:10 screens in the "aspectRatio" line and you'll be golden. You still need the other three changes as well: mode -1, customwidth and customheight. I don't have the expansion pack for Doom 3. Call of Duty requires similar changes, but there is no "aspectRatio" entry. For that game you must specify the FOV you want. For a 16:9 screen the exact value is 96.418343. See this post if you have a 16:10 ratio screen. http://htpcnews.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8444 You may want to also change this line in the config file: seta com_introplayed "0". Change the 0 to a 1. Otherwise you'll watch a blank screen while the intoductory videos play. "1" prevents the videos from running. Keep in mind however that the FOV hack only works in the single player config. If you try changing the FOV in the multiplayer config, it always reverts to 80. |
