Hi, I recently bought a 19" LCD 1280 * 1024 Res, and I figured the guy/ls on this forum would be the ones to ask how I can play Battlefield 1942, wich has a maximum resolution of 1280 * 960, in a window mode maybe, or fullscreen with bars at the top and bottom

this way it would only be useing the exact ammount of pixels that the game supports

LCDs dont display very well if you dont have an exact match with the resolutions, wich forces me to play all games now at 1280 * 1024 Res if I want it to look like it used to on the CRT, but BF9142 doesnt support 1280 1024, so...... help me

You need to edit a .ini file. It is explained here. link

Maybe you should next time first look in the master game list or try the search on the left.

well, I assumed that the black bars would be at the top/bottom of the screen, since my monitors Native Res is 1280*1024 and the game has max res of 1280 * 960

otherwize, yes I want the black bars, unless there is a way to make the game display 1280 * 1024 "without scaleing"

But i also have a question concerning BF1942 and Vietnam.
Is there a way to cut of the buttom and the top as in BF2
to have the full screen without any distortions?

Ow yeah, offcourse your right. Sorry about that. If you wan't to do that you probably wan't to look in this thread. It's all about gaming in non native resolutions with the black bar thing.

If you have an Nvidia GPU there is a option in the controlpanel that can switch on black bars. On Ati cards it's unfortunately not that easy i'm affraid. I don't know what card you have.

looks like that other guys question is very similar, if not the same as mine

its all about avoiding LCD Scaleing, wich makes games ugly, bad enough the large pixel pitch makes things look grainy, especially at distance

Ill check out that thread now, thanks alot

Battlefield 1942, wich has a maximum resolution of 1280 * 960

This is untrue. Before I got my hdtv, I played BF1942 @ 1600x1200 because it didn't play nice with FSAA in my experience with my older computer.

BF1942 played great on my 16:9 hdtv (1280x720). Use native resolution!

you mean I could use 1280*1024 Resolution in Battlefield 1942 ?

in my Games Video options menu for resolutions, the maximum Res Shown to choose from is 1280 * 960 32 @ 7

why arent higher Resolutions available in that list? are you saying the game actually supports them and just doesnt have them in the Video options ?

Use native resolution!

love to, but my monitors Native resolution of 1280 * 1024 isnt listed, but If I know the game supports it without stretching or scaleing or any other ugliness, I will follow the instructions to mod it to Native res

is there a way to get that 1280 * 1024 32 @75 to appear in the Video options resolution list
