I know that it's possible to run BF1942 in 1680x1050 with everything stretched, but can I set it up to cut off the top and bottom instead? The stretched models drive me insane.

Apperantly with the sollution mentioned here the games graphics are okay. The HUD is stretched though. Have you tried this?

I tried that method some time ago. IIRC, it doesn't resolve the stretching, it just zooms out the view.
