One thing I'm finding out first hand is that TN panels are ugly in portrait mode. Why did Samsung put a swivel base on many of their TN panels if the viewing angles are all screwed up?

Same reason that hp and dell did. It's a feature to hype. How many tv's do you get with useless features these days? alot.

TN monitors are terrible in terms of vertical angles, so portrait mode sucks. Even the LED VE278Q that I love loses 25% of its brightness if I move my head 1-2" above or underneath the bezel just for the hell of it.
