Hopefully they will be more competitively priced ;)

No costs yet seen.

Whoever is the OEM for the BizLink adaptor, they must be raking in about now. Hopefully quantity sales will ramp up production runs on the thing and drive down individual unit cost. IMHO, the only reason why it was ever expensive is that noone needed one.

Yep, does seem strange why an active DP to DVI converter (i.e. digital to digital) is 3 or 4 times (or more) more expensive than a DP to VGA converter (i.e. digital to analogue)

That Sapphire model looks like the Bizlink model which looks like the Accell B087B-002B that I'd gotten myself -

They look exactly alike and if they came from the same supplier I think their may still be some issues as the other adaptors. I hope that Sapphire fixed some of the issues that the other adaptor had or we're all back where we started from.

Way to go Sapphire.

BTW are they available yet?

They're all the same OEM part. These things are being made by a single OEM manufacturer someplace and rebadged.

I think what might make this a bit more expensive is that it might have to do digital-analog-digital transcode. Purely a guess on my part though. Would be nice to get an answer from the manufacturer if it is digital-digital or digital-analog-digital transcode.

An apapter like this includes a DP recieved, two DVI transmitters, a USB power controller and possibly a translation device as well. One of the issues faced is that the DP reciever may not be made by the same company as the DVI transmitter.

So, multiple chips involved = more cost. I still think the analog VGA adapter is the best route atm.

when I saw the title of the thread I though it would be a smaller and cheaper adapter that does not require USB

ahh it's just the same thing with a differnt sticker on it.

btw: I'm surprise so many people are having problems with the adapter and screen blanks.

I got mine from dell and have worked flawlessly since.

maybe it's the monitor I'm using.

btw: If anyone is running at 1920x1200 or 1920x1080 I would recommend the DVI one oppose to the cheaper VGA one.

to me the quality difference is worth the money. sine you will be staring at your monitor for god knows how long a day.

If the VGA can pull 19x12 (and some people have been able to) would the quality be worse?

Also, isnt the sapphire one suppose to be cheaper?
