Post subject: | Dell P2310H displayport screen.. solution? |
Im sitting with a hd 5970 card and i am very excited about getting an eyefinity setup. But reading so many topics on flickering screens, blackouts and so on, i lost hope. But all this adpater C#"P could be avoided? Will bying a screen with displayport get the job done? with no flickering? Im thinking of bying the Dell P2310H, using it as center monitor and connect to dvi screens for left and right? Can anyone tell me if this is the solution? and garantued problem free? Best regards Jonezi |

A native Display Port Screen will not have the issue that adapters bring about. |

I have just read people in here running 3 imes dell p2210 monitors with native displayport, still are getting the flicker :?: here for an example: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=17840&p=177857&hilit=p2210#p177857 |

Don't forget the VGA BIOS. It's another factor in the flicker-fest. ATI have released a couple of revisions for the 5850 (http://www.techpowerup.com) and 5870 (http://www.techpowerup.com) and there have been end-user reports of decreased flickering. Flashing has its risks of course but if the flickering is really bothering you then the risk-reward scales might start to tip the other way. Also, I have a Dell P2210H as my centre monitor and haven't had a single flicker and I'm still using the default 5850 BIOS from Sapphire (2009-09-16 : 113-C00201-100). |

Thanks for the reply. I think i will just take the chance and get that dell screen as center monitor. I have the hd 5970 so there is no BIOS flash mods. But reading topics with pople having less problems with a native diplayport screen, seems to be the way to go then. |

Going with a native DP monitor is certainly the safest way to go... On a side note, I am running 3 Dell 2209WAs with the Accell active adaptor and have had ZERO issues. (5970 with 9.12 Hotfix drivers) You are going to LOVE Eyefinity! :rockout |

Thanks for the reply. I think i will just take the chance and get that dell screen as center monitor. I have the hd 5970 so there is no BIOS flash mods. Cool. My post was more of a heads-up that the active DP adapter situation isn't as simple as "the adapters are all fubared". It seems that with a little help from ATI, in the form of a voltage bump in the BIOS, some peoples problems have been eased. But native DP certainly helps. Best of luck with it. |

I have the dell p2210 dp monitor. Had a dp/vga adapter b4. Had issues with it. DP monitor has been perfect. |
