Was thinking about building an eyefinity rig in the future (will probably wait until after summer for the MD230 and the 6 port eyefinity card to come out, and get the bugs worked out with crossfire etc...). Is it possible to make the start menu in the middle of an eyefinity setup? I have searched around for this answer on google and various forums, but haven't found a definitive answer.

Thanks in advance!

I like this question and would like to know if somebody had dealt with this problem already.

I do use profiles and they amazingly finaly work just fine (so far) with Catalyst 10.2, but it would be awesome if I could keep the start menu on the center monitor even when using eyefinity.

regards
Oskar

Is this something you can do with their Hydra desktop manager? I never tried it but I can later today.

Just make a profile that has all 3 monitors individually and set the center monitor as primary. Your second profile will be the "Grouped" mode (EyeFinity mode), then right click on the ATI icon to switch back and forth or assign global hotkeys to the profiles if you really must.

Have used this trick (Profiles) ever since before EyeFinity and it works great (though switching profiles is realllly fast on EyeFinity).

There is nothing you can do with actual catalyst to switch Os start menu to center monitor with Eyefinity enabled.

Eyefinity sees all the monitors as 1 big monitor so start menu is on bottom left of the group screens like if there was only one screen.

The only workaround is to switch to another extended desktop profile... This is a litttle bit annoying but the only working workaround available.

Ok, thanks guys, that is more or less what I figured... Just hadn't seen a definitive answer anywhere...

You guys seem to think this is a workaround, but how can it be? Windows is designed to always have the start menu stretch across your entire monitor (when it's horizontal, you can also dock it to the left or right vertically). In grouped mode EyeFinity presents Windows with one "logical" monitor that spans across 3 physical monitors.

Registered just for this:

issue with CCC forgetting icon positions and monitor arrangements when switching monitor profiles is now fixed! YEA to 10.3!

Hope this helps!
