I've recently one 5870 1GB card. I would like to update my gaming rig to crossfire 2x 5870 and not sure if there is any benefit in the "real world" to use 5870 with 2GB for CF and eyefinity (3x24" 1920x1200 each) It's all for my favourite BFBC2 ;)

My PC spec.:
CPU: AMD PII 965 BE C3 4GHz@1.425v
Mainboard: Gigabyte GA-790FXTA-UD5
RAM: Patriot DDR3 1600MHz 4GB CL7
GPU.:Sapphire 5870 1GB [11161-01-50R]
HDD: 2x 60GB OCZ Vertex 2
Sound: 7.1 Razer Megalodon
PSU: Corsair HX850W
Chase: CM HAF 932
CPU cooling: Scythe Mugen 2+IC Diamond 7
Monitor: 1x HP ZR24w 2x Samsung SyncMaster 2443BW
OS: Win.7 x64

When you run crossfire you can mix and match different mem sizes on the cards but you will end up using the smallest of the lot.

As you have a 1gb 5870 just get another 1gb one as the 2gb one will be wasted.

Aside: Please read this before you get 2 cards, perhaps get the monitors first and try it out with 1 card then decide if you want a second
