Post subject: | 6850 HDMI to receiver causes other monitors to sleep? |
Quick question maybe somebody has had this issue but I couldn't find another post like it. I am currently running Windows 7 with a saphire 6850. I have 2 HP LP2465s (one DVI and the other DP to DVI) The third display I am using is a Samsung 40 inch 1080p TV. The TV is routed through an Onkyo TX-SR607 receiver. Ideally this setup would allow me to use my 2 display setup for work while listening to music. The problem comes when I try to turn off the television but leave the receiver on to listen to music. The music does continue to play but it causes the two main monitors to go to sleep. Meanwhile if I turn off the receiver the monitors will turn back on. but then I can't listen to music. So right now I am stuck with the TV on and the display extended if I want to listen to music. I know the obvious choice here is to just bypass the HDMI audio but the receiver is 50 feet away so that is an expensive and obtrusive solution. If anybody has any tips it would be appreciated. I am pretty new to AMD cards and don't really know the lay of the land like i did with Nvidia. |

I wonder if the amp passes on the EDID of the TV, then when you turn off the TV the signal accepting video will disappear, as the amp will only show as being able able to accept audio. I can have a little google and get back to you :) |

In fact, how is the amp set-up? Is the amp set to scale all content to a specific format or pass through? I wonder if you set the amp to scale everything to 1080p you will fix the problem. It sounds like the signal path is being interrupted by the amp when you turn the TV off. |

When i look at the stats in CCC I see the TVs info but it says the model of the amp. I would tell you what it says when i turn the TV off but obviously that would mean the problem is fixed. I currently have it set to pass through video and process the sound (i have audio pass through disabled). This is odd though i would figure that all monitors signal would be processed independently, I don't understand how turning one off would put the others to sleep. |
