Post subject:  Question About Freesync

Not sure if this is the place, but figured I'd drop a topic and see what I get for replies.

Anyways, my issue is I'm unable to enable freesync on all three of my monitors. I would like to use Eyefinity, with all 3 monitors running freesync for optimum display performance.

Here's my setup:
i5-2500k
16GB G.Skill DDR3 1600
ASRock z77 Extreme4 mobo
EVGA 850W G2 PSU
XFX R9 390 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814150729)
3 x Samsung C24F390F 1800R monitors (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 90V4312103)

GPU drivers are 16.3.2

My monitor setup:
1 monitor is using just a cable for HDMI to HDMI on GPU
1 monitor is using a cable for HDMI to DP on GPU
1 monitor is using a cable for HDMI to DVI-D on GPU (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6812705444)

Here's what Radeon Settings is reporting to me:

I can confirm that ALL three monitors are capable of enabling Freesync when using an HDMI to HDMI or HDMI to DP cable.

My issue is, I was under the impression that a HDMI to DVI-D cable would also work with Freesync (reference link above for the exact cable i'm using). However, doesn't appear to be the case according to what Radeon Settings is reporting to me (again, reference the imgur link above)

Is there a possibility to make this work, or am I going to be forced to buy additional equipment? Will an MST splitter degrade multi monitor gaming performance using Eyefinity? Any that work particularly well with my equipment?

Thank you for any and all suggestions!

Post subject:  Re: Question About Freesync

Hi,

Freesync was firstly developed on the Displayport 1.3a Standard. After a while AMD made Freesync available on HDMI.
I'm not sure if it's even possible to run Freesync on a Displayport-HDMI Adapter. Your Screenshot does say so.
I haven't heard of Freesync working via DVI, afaik DP or HDMI is necessary.

an DP-MST Hub should ( i say should!) not degrade your performance (but there are reported problem of screen blackouts in idle with the early models. And it does cost some bucks....).
One hub can stream 4x 1920x1080 streams in 60hz at full quality, so no no performance difference.

Ok, i think I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and spend the dinero for an MST hub.

From the looks of it, this will solve my dilemma??

Or the Club3d version.

Seems reviews are kind of hit or miss with either. I'll probably go with whichever one is available on Amazon.
