In my driver I have vsync forced on, since I use TrackIR. I get tearing with it off. However, I have ran rFactor with it off a good bit, experimenting with control input at higher frame rates compared to locked at 60
I am able to run it with everything full at well over 100fps. I don't remember exactly how high they go, but do recall seeing 135fps before.
If I had some time to setup my wheel, etc. I would do some test and post the results for you. Unfortunately
Butch,
What you said above got me to thinking about my lower frame rate issue, so I did some testing of my own -
Using Vsync I got the same 60 FPS with smooth motion under all circumstances (with 5040x1050, AA level 4, 22 cars, ALL options on highest except texture filter x4 & shadows on full instead of max) in most mods.
W/ Vsynx off in most mods I get 75+ FPS with frequent high FPS of 100 to 125.
I have come to the conclusion (dah) that the good mods themselves contribute to high FPS and great sim racing while some mods & tracks give low FPS no matter what / how you adjust settings.
It's surprising that some of the better detailed mods and tracks yield higher FPS !
Thanks for your reply above, it helped me discover that most of my favorite rFactor mods (NAGT, BMW E90, EOAA, ILMS, MMG F1) run really well with my current GTX260 and THTGO at 5040x1050.
THANKS again :D
