Hello,

I have currently the following configuration:

- ASUS MAXIMUS FORMULA
- INTEL Q9450
- ASUS 9800GX2
- 1 screen 24" IIYAMA
- 1 screen 22" SAMSUNG T220.
- Vista 64 Bit.

I want to upgrade my configuration to use a Matrox Triplehead2GO.

I want to buy a new card dedicated for the triplehead2go.
Which card is the best ?

9800GTX+, GTX285 ?

I read that with the GTX285 under vista, there is some problem with the triplehead2go

But I also read that there is a new beta of the GXM to normally resolve this problem.

Thus which card is the best in coordination with the 9800GX2.

I see also that there is some problem with the Samsung T220
Can you also give me some detail?

What is the best screen 22" to work with the triplehead2go.

Thanks for your help.

OOEFO.

I run a 280GTX under Vista64 with no problems, haven't had to use the new beta Powerdesk. Unless you are running SLi, Triplehead2go will only make use of 1 graphic card. Your 9800GX2 will be fine on its own. If you want to replace it then the 280/285GTX or 295GTX are the only Nvidia ones that will give any worthwhile improvement.

Hello Typhoon2000,

Thanks for your answer.

Do you use only one card for your 4 LCD ?

I want to have the same configuration as you. 3 LCD 22" with 1 LCD 24".
If I use only my 9800GX2, I need to remove the SLI. ( That's already the case to use my 22" with my 24"').

I thought I should buy a new card dedicated to TH2GO.
Do You think that it's not necessary ?

Thanks for your help.

Regards.

Just to clarify TH2go will make use of SLi, for which of course you need 2 indentical GPU's, if you add a different second card to your existing set up then of course it can only make use of one. Running desktop on the 4th monitor takes next to no GPU utilisation so no need to run than monitor off a second card, just plug it into the second DVI port. Yes I only have the 1 card in my system.

What drivers are you using Typhoon? You got it working with new drivers and no beta drivers? HOW!?

Yes that's right. There's no need to add a second video card if you're worried the 4th monitor might affect performance. I've tested this before and really there's no difference at all.

I would suggest the GTX285, not the 9800GX2. 9800GX2 is a problematic card without even throwing odd resolutions at it.

After the official Powerdesk kept installing the wrong widescreen resolutions with 180.xx drivers, I uninstalled it. Then installed TH2Go monitor driver manually (using update driver option in windows control panel) and set up custom res 5040x1050@57 (had the infomous custom res failed message - despite the screen showing the correct picture- a few times but it cleared when I swapped DVI ports and then worked fine with either). So basically got it working without using Powerdesk. Then installed the official powerdesk (only to get bezel management) but did not install any new widescreen modes (it was these that dont install correctly)
