@Paul C
There are *VERY* big differences between a 30" and a your 24". All of the first gen 30" panels came out without internal scalers. In fact the Dell 3007 required an NVIDIA video card be used, and scaling is down through the GFX control panel. Without the proper support from your video card, all first gen panels would only do 1280x800 or 2560x1600 - nothing else. And, they required Dual-Link DVI to run at 2560x1600.
Prior to the recent update to the DTH2Go, the max res was 3x1280x1024. This is 3x5:4 resolution. Why that individual was trying to scale 5:4 across 16:10 is beyond me. He should have been trying to do 3x1280x800, which the panel could scale. The new update to the DTH2Go offers 3x1680x1050, which is the right aspect ratio, but there are still probably scaling issues.
I'm not aware of a <30" panel that does not offer some sort of scaling. You shouldn't have an issue with any 24" monitor out there, as long as it meets the specs for 57Hz frequency. Note, I said you "shouldn't," not that you "won't." Without having the monitors myself, I can't promise.
