Cheers. Do all 4 cables need to be dual, or just the Graphics Card -> TH2GO one?

Thanks,

CJ

No, only the cable connecting the TH2Go unit with the graphic card needs to be dual-link. The other three can be single-link.

Post subject:  Vista64 broke my 5040x1050!

I was running just fine in 5040x1050 under XP, but upgraded to Vista64 and soon found I was back to a mx res of 3840x800 - just like the bad old days.

Oh, and I did upgrade video cards: was running a 9800GX2, now 3 GTX280's in Tri-SLI. I've tried driver ver. 178.13 and 178.24.

I guess my next step is to maybe try the 180 series beta's. This kinda sucks - since I went with the Tri-SLI specifically to drive 5040x1050.

Post subject:  HDMI

Hi all,

I have the similar problem with changing resolution to 5040x1050.

I was trying the GXM tool and there everything is ok.
I have a card 8600M GS with DualLink DVI, upgraded firmware of TH2GO and Nvidia, but... still have only 2400x600px resolution.

NOW I KNOW: THE PROBLEM IS IN THE HDMI CONNECTOR on the back side of my notebook!!! HDMI (type A) have only 19 pins and Im using HDMI to DVI small adapter. With adapter TH2GO cannot use the Dual Link function!

Do you have some tips how to resolve this? I think its not possible.
Only buy new notebook with DVI port

PS: Now Im using standart analog VGA connector and have two 22" monitors with res. 3360x1050px (there is no problem, but bad quality)

Guys, we have a solution:

1. Set res to 1680x1050
2. Set Timing to CVT reduced blank (to set correct pixel clock)
3. Set Timing to manual
3. Then input manual values shown in attached jpg.

Haven't read through the entire thread yet, but just wanted to note that, under Vista x64, this does not work for me. When I update the driver and point it to the dir with the gxm.inf, it simply says:

Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date.

Generic PnP Monitor

**DANGER DANGER WILL ROBINSON CROSSPOST AHEAD**

OK.... here we go... "thankfully you all have a talented and gifted security agent..."

If your monitor is listed as Plug and Play, it needs to say Matrox TripleHead2Go Edition, if not the games will not run in 5040x1050. This is of course assuming your desktop is currently at 5040x1050.

Right click on the monitor list (i.e. Plug and Play Monitor)
Properties
Driver
Update Driver
Browse my computer for driver software
Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
have disk
browse (to your PowerDesk install directory, usually c:Program Files (x86)Matrox Graphics IncPowerDesk SE)
Highlight GXM.inf
Open
**you may get a pop up asking if you want to Trust Matrox, if so say yes**

This should install the correct monitor listing and allow you to play games in 5040x1050. I just checked COD4 and X3 (my two favorites) and I now have the option.

I hope this helps out the other people having issues.

**EDIT**

I now have the following resolutions listed in the SGU
4098x768
4320x900
5040x1050

Ok, I am now officially going nuts with this. Not only I can't get 4320x900 to work under newer nvidia drivers, now it's also disappeared even when I roll back to 175.

I have Triplehead as monitor drivers (aready did), and I have re-flashed the ROM and reinstalled Powerdesk. Nothing.

Haaalp...

EDIT: I found a way to get the widescreen rez's back under 175: right-click GXM, run the wizard. Should solve your problems. The widescreen rez's still don't show on Edit Mode List in GXM, but the rez is up and running.

I, for one, am done tinkering with this until a 100%, fool-proof solution comes out.

Well, I went and tried it again. And it worked.

My method (just in case anyone else wants specifics):

- Download 180.48 and latest GMX
- Uninstall GMX
- Reboot
- Install 180.48
- Reboot
- Install GMX. A wizard will open, be sure to select the widescreen resolutions. Watch the wizard checkmarks screen to see if the "install widescreen resolutions" green checkmark appears. The wizard will ask for reboot.
- Reboot
- Don't touch anything. The wizard will appear again. Keep clicking "Next", it will apply the new resolution by itself.
- Reboot one last time, just to make sure.

As an aside, if you then check the "Manage custom resolutions" page of the Nvidia control panel, you'll see the widescreen resolutions (4098x768, 4320x900 and 5040x1050) added there. That's what the "install widescreen resolutions" thing in the GXM wizard does, which is why it's important to check that it runs correctly.

Cheers.
