Hi, I am going to build a new desktop for gaming in surround, 3 screens using triple head2go digital.
I'm looking to use an intel processor and nvidia card(s). Looking for the least expensive computer capable of handleing RPGs such as warhammer accross these 3 screens.
If anyone could lay out the minimum specs capable of handleing this I would be graciously in debt. On a budget but realise these machines are expensive and don't want to sacrifice performance

MoBo:.....EVGA 780i SLI..............................180 EUR
CPU:.......Intel C2Q 9400............................220 EUR
RAM:.......OCZ Platinium CL4 800 4x1GB.......60 EUR
HDD1:.....WD VelociRaptor 300GB GLFS......200 EUR
HDD2:.....WD Caviar Green 1TB..................100 EUR
SPU:.......Creative X-Fi XtremeMusic..............50 EUR
GPU:.......Geforce GTX 280..........................320 EUR
DVD:.......Plextor PX810SA............................50 EUR
PSU:........Tagan PipeRock 900W................140 EUR
-------------------------------------------------------------------
System (without Case)...........................~1350 EUR

* SPU only if you need EAX
* HDD1 only if you want quick load and boot times
* PSU only if you want to add another GTX280 later, otherwise pick a cheaper one.

what is your budget?

Budget computer does not imply a Raptor hard drive. You will do fine with just the Caviar Green, MRohe14, and you can find a hard drive cheaper than that that has a smaller capacity.

It's generally a good idea to get 2x2GB instead of 4x1GB, to avoid memory compatibility problems.

You can probably user your old optical drives and save some money.

I would definitely not include the latest and greatest available video card on a budget list... Two cheaper models in SLi would be way better bang for the buck. No software effectively utilizes quad cores yet, a decent dual core would be fine. That PSU is a good bit of overkill, you could even cut the cost of the DVD burner. It would be easy to cut that total in half and run respectably. About the only place i would say to overspend a bit is the MOBO.

What about this build?

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0ghz
MOBO: Asus 750i
RAM: 4GB G SKill
GPU: 2x GeForce 8800 GTS
HDD: 2x 250GB WesterDigital HD
SPU: Creative Sound Blaster 5.1
DVD: Asus 20x Combo Drive
OS: 64-Bit Windows Vista
PSU: 650W Cooler Master

would this be able to handle three 22" screens at native res.?

Here is my setup:

CPU: AMD Athlon64 X2 5200+ 2.66ghz
MOBO: Asus Crosshair 590i
RAM: 2GB DDR2 800Mhz
GPU: 2x GeForce 8800 GTX
HDD: 3x SATAII HDDs
SPU: Creative Sound Blaster 5.1
DVD: LG DVD Combo Drive
OS: 32-Bit Windows Vista
PSU: 700W OCZ ModXstream

I run CoD 4 at 5040x1050 at 90 FPS on three 22" to give you an idea.
