Ok, here's the story.

I was pretty happy when i was able to use 5040x1050 in vista 32 with the latest 181.2. Little did i know it almost f@ked my video card.

i noticed that after playing certain games at 5040x1050 my video card started artifacting, i check the temps and it was a whopping 138c o_0
then i lowered to 1440x900x3 and the temps were ok about 65c

at this point i thought it was my video card...

luckily i decided to install the same game on my xp with 178.13 drivers and played the same game (combat arms) with the same settings at 5040x1050 and temps were max 56c after 1 hour of gamplay. I even cranked up to 8aa and tested and it was still 56c :)

I have no idea why the new 181.2 drivers + latest gxm would cause my videocard to overheat at 5040x1050 res...

But i do know that the same game and the same resolution/same settings but using 178.13 drivers runs very cool at 56c vs 138c lol!

I just wanted to warn others that this new driver can really f@k up ur card STUPID NVIDIA DRIVERS ><
I still can't believe drivers would make such a big difference in temps >_<

Not happened to me, at all. Maybe the auto fan control isn't working for you in 181?

No sorry I didn't, I mean I am having no heating difference in the drivers. My cards are cooled by TECs so fan control means diddly to my rig.

That's pretty sweet cooling. What is your idle and stock temps?

It is the coolit systems dual drive bay cooler. They are supposed to have 2x80mm fans blowing through the radiator (which is only 80mm tall to fit in 2 drive bays, I have put the word on that they should build a tri-bay cooler with 120mm fans and they may next) but that is noisy. So I ripped the unit apart and stuck 2x120mm push/pull fans on and it is now virtually silent. They idle at 38-40 (air temp is about 38-35 here at the mo) and under load I have yet to see more than 60..normally 55-58.

It is real good, both cards are now also single slot. Pity my mobo has died :( so I have retconned to my older mobo

The Unit (note 2/3 height radiator in between fans)

My very tidy rig :p
