I bought my complete setup for TH2go a weekish ago, and it came in yesterday. 3x vx1940Ws from Viewsonic, and the TH2go itself, and was testing it on my backup comp, since the other one's 5 hours away (at home from college.)

I can get the monitors to run at pretty much any resolution I've tried, even at 57hz, but when I attempt to run at 5040x1050, I get "out of range" displayed on the monitors, as well as what I assume is the refresh rate being transmitted: 50.8 khz horizontal and 47.6 hz vertical.

Scavvenjahh uses these, so I don't think it could be the monitors, but could anyone explain what's going wrong here? The only thing that I think it could be is that I'm running the original display on the other input (an oooold CRT through a VGA to DVI adapter), and it's interfering somehow, but I'm not sure...

Thanks for any help.

Actually, I have the exact same problem ONLY in Vista with recent nvidia drivers :( No problem using 177.41, OR under XP - the latter being my current solution for surround gaming in 5040 (180.48 in XP).
I have no idea how to fix this, but I prefer playing on my 30" panel rather than catching headaches trying to make TH work under Vista, so maybe you'll be more lucky. Did you try mattsimis' technique for creating the custom triplewide res ?

Yeah, I have, with the same result. So it only seems to happen in vista huh? Odd. I'll have to play around with that old driver set and see if I can't figure out what's going on...

The bright side would have to be that if it works in xp, it would have to be a driver/software issue, and not the monitors..... looks like a long night of tinkering for me...

I didn't try the "copy GXM to another folder" thing, or calling 5040x1050@60Hz instead of 57Hz and let TH2G automatically "correct" the frequency. There's so much stuff to check throughout that handful of threads, it gets confusing pretty fast :?
Hopefully we won't get stuck in that dead-end for too long, those monitors are great and they do work at that res in Vista with the "right" graphics card drivers...

Wow, I'm shocked.... It worked, but I'm not sure how or why...

I attempted to set up 1680x1050 @ 57hz through the TH2go (I tested it straight to the monitor earlier, and it worked), and couldn't for the life of me get it to work as a custom resolution through NV's control panel (it kept saying test failed even before displaying.)

Then, I just decided to try to attempt to display it at 5040x1050 anyway, starting with CVT reduced blank (the monitors refused to display anything, they went into standby until it went back to 1280x1024.)

Then, I just decided to enter in the hack from mattsimis first, and, wouldn't you know, the bloody thing worked.

I'm gonna play some games on this testbed, and then try to get it to work with the recent drivers....

I'll post pics if I can get it to work on my real PC back at home this weekend... (can't wait to be back to my good comp... :D )

UPDATE: working under 180.84, Vista 32. Hopefully when I connect it to the real thing on Vista 64, this will work.... :? Downloading Half-life 2 to check if resolutions are showing, and then it will be packed up for the long drive home...

UPDATE 2: HL2 autodetected the resolution automatically, so it's a complete win on the Vista 32 box...

Sorry, didn't mean to be unspecific or leave you hanging, lol.

What I mean by "hack" is this process:
1. Make sure matrox th2go is showing as the display name.
2. Try NV custom resolution of 1680x1050 @ 57hz. (Didn't work for me.)
3. Put in NV custom resolution of 5040x1050 @ 57hz with CVT reduced blank and attempt. (Didn't work, again)
4. Change CVT reduced blank to manual, and adjust it to his custom res in the topic. (Tried even though the other 2 didn't work, and whaddaya know....)

Remember, however, that this is my vista 32 test bed. When I get back to my real comp back at home, it has vista 64, and will be closer to yours. If you try it though, good luck!

Thanks for the details, I just wanted to be sure of what you did. These Vista/TripleWide issues are pain in the backside, so precision is of the essence ;)

Alas that's just what I already did, so don't get your hopes up too high :? Will give it another try tomorrow w/ 180.48 and maybe 180.84.
