I finally got support for 5040x1050 running Windows 7 (The final working combination was 177.41 drivers with beta gxm) and it runs beautifully, except anytime I close a fullscreen game, log out, or restart windows it resets to 3840x124. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks.

yep with the beta NV drivers and the beta gxm it works fine for me. But, like you, whenever I finish a game or something full screen the res drops back to the 4380 (or whatever) one. I then have to run the Matrox GXM wizard (no re-start) to get it back. A bit of a pain really but I am only using it once or twice.

Wonder what would happen if you remove that other res from the registry?

Maybe something similar to what would happen if you tried to eat meat loaf with no mouth?

Its more likely an nVidia problem or MS+nV.

Yeah I reckon this is all mixed with the problems peeps are having with Vista. Also be nice to get 5040 in DX10 one day as well! I also wonder about DX11......

Just wanted to add my experience. Just installed Win 7 x64 build 7057 and after a day of tweaking I managed to get it working. I originally started with the latest Win 7 beta nVidia drivers and the beta GXM. This allowed me to select 5040x1050 57hz successfully, but I got the OSD nag screen saying it is not optimal.

In order to get rid of this, I reformatted and installed the release 2.04 GXM and the same nVidia drivers. I then setup the custom resolution at 60hz to get rid of the OSD. Now everything seems to be working. The only problem is that when I leave a fullscreen game, the various apps open on my desktop shift to the right, but the resolution stays at least.

Post subject:  Windows 7 RC1

Just installed Windows 7 RC1 build 7100 and previous to that I was using Beta build 7000.

Under the beta version, I ran NVidia Windows 7 beta driver 181.71 and the beta gxm and was able to get 5040x1050 without a problem.

There is a new NVidia beta driver 185.81 so I thought I would install it with RC1 and beta gxm. Unfortunately I couldn't get the wizard to set res at 5040x1050.

I rolled back to 181.71 and re-ran the wizard and I was able to setup 5040x1050 res again np.

I would recommend sticking with 181.71 and beta gxm on Windows 7 versions atm. Anyone else have any luck?
