While I am asking questions Mach1.9pants, how far away do you sit from your 24's?
Arms length, I can literal just brush the monitor with my finger tips when my arm is fully extended when I am in 'gaming position'

A general triplehead question here...

I was just reading the the side monitors aren't really used during gameplay as your focus is on the centre screen..

I use trackir and its great for racing, looking at the corner coming up and checking the apex before turning etc..

The wider view is something I expected would be useful and possibly a replacement for the trackir need.. Am I wrong with this?

Sure, I understand if you were playing a FPS action you wouldnt take your eyes off the center monitor but I was really hoping for racing that the side monitors would be useful and used for almost every corner that wanted it..

So is it just for the 'immersion' only or is it real, valuable, useable for racing sims.. flight sims I know it would be valuable..

If you replace TrIR4 with TH then it will certainly help but due to the wrap around you get a stretching effect on the side screens...someone clever like Paddy can explain it. However I have used it to look around corners in racing games...but it is really going to be a personal pref thing to how much you will directly look at the side screens in a racer, heck I use both with ArmA and it is great!

Well I took the plunge.

I reckon I will set it up and go Wow! this is cool or feel a bit dissapointed. I hope its not the latter :)

I saw that LG monitors worked, at least the 22" version, so I went with 3x24" LG's.

Now I will explain to my wife what I have just done. As I just got her a piano I feel I can get away with it :P

Good on ya, welcome to SURROUND GAMING.. you'll never look back. Problem is that it is real hard to slip 3x24" monitors past the wife, a GPU upgrade yes, but the appearance of an extra 72inches ....;)

I cannot belive what a knob I am!

after researching and knowing I would have a 1440x900 limitation with my ATI 4870 I now learn that for even that to work I need to turn off crossfire!

Geez, what an idiot who just spent $2700 and now needs to spend another 950 to get a NV 280, which btw I cant afford to do now..

Are you sure you have to disable Crossfire, I know the Matrox page says its unsupported, but in practice?

Regardless, I found it quite easy to sell the 4870, sell 2 and you will get your GTX280. Pity your mobo likely doesnt support SLI and 2x 260s is a better bet than 1x280 (I got mine 2nd hard at a good price though).

You don't need to disable crossfireX! Don't sell your cards! lol! I am running 4850 CrossfireX on the triplehead2go with no problems at all. I also have a 24 inch monitor on the side connected to the second dvi of my GPU. You can also do that to your extra 30 inch monitor.

granted I got a 9800GX2 instead of crossfire.

but why wouldn't CrossFire work with the Triplehead?

the TH2G is pretty much seen as a "monitor" by the videocard. and is independant of your videohardware.

I hear ATI have problems with 5040x1050 but not at 4320x900.

look around alittle bit I though there are people that got 4320x900 working under crossfire.
