By upgrading my GPU i got good performance in single screen 1080p resolution but 3x 1080p doesn't really work good.

BattleField3 : Low or off where avaliable, stuttering even on single player
Conter Strike GO : Medium on everything ~40-50fps works good
Well basically in alot of games medium works good enough newer more demanding games usually low or off

Firstly maybe I should lower the resolution abit? How are you guys playing 1x3L?


Secondly perhaps its time to to an upgrade again

PSU : be quiet! CM E9 480W
GPU : Asus HD7970 3GB (http://www.prisjakt.nu/produkt.php?p=1072597)
CPU : First gen Intel Quad: Q8200 2.33GHz
RAM : 4GB DDR2
SSD : Intel 520 Series

I want to avoid getting two GPU's if it's not essential as im planning a mITX build

For upgrade Im thinking
CPU: Core i5 3570T (T probably has lower perf not sure how much, but also lower TDP, want as cool and quiet as possible, not going to over/underclock)
RAM: No idea not sure how many slots an ITX board has but probably 2x4GB DDR3 not sure how much timings etc affects the performance or amount of RAM
MOBO: good enough not to expensive mITX board probably dont need to think about this one at all for performance though I have some feut I would like included like good onboard audio and network/wifi

Do you have your Q8200 overclocked or at 2.33ghz?

DO you have MSI Afterburner (or any other GPU Tool that displays GPU load in a On screen Display) installed and can check that you have 90-99% GPU load all the time ?

No just checked with fraps to get framerate, will see if I can use MSI Afterburner tomorrow if possible on my GPU

I lowered the res a bit 4600 somethin / singelplayer

medium
got 50% load on card and about 30-55fps

ultra
70-95% load on card and about the same fps though depending on area, usually lower end maybe even lower


bottleneck?

Only advice i can give is to upgrade your CPU or at least overclock it if you can.

I agree, you have a very powerful GPU paired with a much older CPU, and it's undoubtedly holding you back at. I remember seeing a HardOCP benchmark of the 7970 that showed it could play Battlefield 3 well at 5760x1080 when paired with an i5 2500 CPU, so if you upgrade to the i5 3570 you should performance greatly improved.

I would advice going with the 3570K, because it's not going to run hotter / louder than the T model at stock speeds, and you'll still have the option to overclock it should you need to later down the line.

Edit: I found the HardOCP benchmark for BF3 paired with an ii7 2600K OCed to 4.8GHz. They had it playable at 5760x1200 on Ultra with Motion Blur and SSAO, so it is clearly your CPU that's bottlenecking your system.

Avg FPS 35.5 on singelplayer according to that page, multi would be more demanding
Anyways ordered me some things as I need to get it up to spec anyways

Will get back with some FPS when I get the stuff if anyone else is thinking of upgrading

Just for reference, i have a 7970 vapour x and run eyefinity across 3 24 inch screens and get between 120 and 200 fps in CS go on eye finity with all maxed out. But i do have an i7, so i think that what people are saying is correct, its the bottle neck on your cpu.

i agree, your cpu is your bottleneck. also i wonder if your psu is up to the task.
the hd7970 supposedly pulls 300 watts at full load.
i have 3 24 inch monitors with 1 hd7970 and can play bf3 with most settings on high
average fps 50.
i72600 @ 4.5 tho. hope this helps

As you guys said, changing CPU did the trick the GPU is now around 99% for BF3
Normally 400W should be enough for a single gpu system even if it's clocked
