Does anyone have any recommendations on a decent and inexpensive USB keyboard possibly slim line or slimmer keys so transition between laptop keys and this won't be such a large jump. Only downside so far I have found with many slim keyboards is that they do not have a normal sized shift button which i would prefer, I could care less about num pad, in fact it is almost preferred not to have it for space reasons. Wireless can work too if you can find cheap enough in that range.

Right now I am sort of looking at this

That should be a good keyboard.

Sort of like that one, what is kind of weird is the small shift key with slash next to it, given my constant usage of that key in LaTeX it make become helpful but i am not sure if I cold get used to the small shift key, i suppose I could double map it besides it is no different than control for something.

I've been pretty happy with my M$ Curve 2000, if you're into the ergo key layouts. It only cost me $20 at a local store. Its has a few media key si never use, but a calculator key above the numpad, and teh key travel is pretty short.

I dunno how much it costs in the States, but I've just picked up a Microsoft Digital Media 3000 to replace a keyboard that my cousin dropped my monitor on. Don't ask. Having to learn another new keyboard, but so far it's pretty comfortable.

My CRT fliped and fell 2 feet onto my keyboard, both still work just fine though!
There is currently a decent size dent in the keyboard and the backspace and backslash keys are both cracked but Saitek sent me a bunch of extra keys to replace them.

I know its not what your looking for packerfan but boy do I ever love my original Saitek Eclipse, I would buy a new one if something happened to this one. Its a fairly standard keyboard aside from the wrist pad which is what makes it for me.

Ordered a 16 dollar microsoft comfort 2000 from amazon, ill live with it for now as it wont always be my primary typing device, it is semi slimline and I have weird typing anyway with my right hand so getting used to it shouldn't take too long for me to grow used to.

If i build a computer then maybe I will get an eclipse or something a bit nicer grade.
