Just saw this. Maybe this'll give us the cable bandwidth needed later this year to see new larger resolution Matrox boxes. My dream specs would be support for 1920x1200 and the option to display rotate. If matrox could pull that off I'd be in heaven. :D

Great news. With all those industry players onboard, hopefully we'll see implementation sooner rather than later.

You can daisy chain multiple cables together, so ive heard.. letting you use multiple monitors from a single videocard output.

This news has been out a while actually. It was put on a prototype Samsung 30" display some time ago, and that's the only display I've seen so far that actually makes use of DP's high data rate due to being 10 bit color depth. Just a little trivia, it takes 3 Single Link DVI ports to equal the data flow of 1 DP.

You can chain monitors with DP, I knew that long ago but I wonder how it will work with games and other 3d things.

I mean you can chain usb monitors but they will not work with games and hardly work with movies.

Though I feel that DP will be what leads to the next major Matrox upgrade for higher resolutions. Though I feel I would only be able to use say 3x24" native for desktop work and would have to use a lower res for gaming. Pushing 1920x1200 3x over again would be really hard unless its an old game and then it would be probably pointless anyways.
