A about a week or so ago I rearranged my desk to better accommodate my triple monitor setup. In the process I wanted to get as much of the cords up off the ground as I could to make it look neater and to also prevent me from kicking them when I was using my computer.
I used extensive amounts of 3M command strips to mount my usb hubs and power supplies against the back panels of my desk. But I also found these:
These were SOOOOO helpful in controlling the cord mess and keeping it off the ground. Their design makes it so easy to open and add/remove cords and then lock back in place after. The strap also stretches just enough to help when you have a large bundle of cables, but no so much that it hangs loose and sloppy when you only have a few. The command strip adhesive bonds really well and had held my cables in place securely but comes off completely cleanly if you need to remove it later.
Big thumbs up from me. If you're looking to organize your cables better, I'd start here.
