Hello, i'm new to Ultra widescreen gaming and just got the new LG 34UM95. Many games seem to have a FOV adjustment, and i'm trying to figure out what I should put in there for the games that don't automatically adjust FOV.

I ran the calculator and got this:
New hFOV = 121.66 (inc bezel comp.)
New vFOV = 73.73 (calculated from new hFOV.)

I'm not really sure what this means, do some games use hFOV and others use vFOV? It seems 90 in some games is not 90 in others. The game I'm messing with now is 7 Days to Die. Default was 60, and I set it to 74 which does look a little look a little "fish bowly".

Am I doing this right? Thanks!

Hi,
Some games use vertical FoV, but most use horizontal FoV.

Additionally, those games usually calculate FoV in relation to a certain aspect ratio, usually 16:9 (I do know TF2 does it to 4:3, do not know about any others.)

This means that say, if you set your FoV to 90, then the FoV inside a 16:9 area in the middle of the screen will be 90, and anything outside due to the expansion from 21:9 will be additional horizontal FoV. I'm not really sure how to calculate it, though I reckon that a horizontal setting of 60-70 on 21:9 is about equal to about 80-90 actual horizontal FoV.

I use a 21:9 monitor for a while now and keep the same FOV at 21:9 as I do at 16:9. So I play BF4 at 90 FOV and that looks normal to me.

The "baseline" FOV is going to be different for each game. You need to find the baseline FOV, and the aspect used for that. From there you can calculate a new FOV for your aspect.
