in the init folder there's a file called graphics.ini, but there are no plain text settings to edit. I'm not a hexedit master, so I didn't check to see if it was hex editable for resolution. Possibly something to look at, though.

a technique I have tried was looking at how the hex changes when the resolution changes to find out how to mod it

Welp, I believe I figured it out :)

The resolution is held in the "dev_mode.dat" file in binary format. I made a quick program to change this via the command line, so you don't need to break out the ol' hex editor. Download it at:

http://www.prismaticorder.com/urures.exe

All you gotta do is put that file in your Uru folder, then run "urures.exe " So to update my file to run in 1440x900, I'd run "urures.exe 1440 900". Simple enough. Go ahead and virus scan, disassemble, whatever, the program only modifies that one file.

Unfortunately when you start Uru, the initial dialog box that pops up won't accept your new resolution and will revert all your graphic settings back to defaults. To get around this, I've figured out how to bypass this dialog altogether and get right into the game. So, after you modify your resolution with urures.exe, simply run:

UruExplorer.exe -iinit To_Dni

to get directly into the game.

Let me know if this works or doesn't work. Someone is welcome to make a nice GUI launcher to do this :) I'll probably be working on more widescreen mods as I get games, because I'm really enjoying my shiny new widescreen laptop!! I've got a mod figured out to run Dark Age of Camelot in widescreen, but that's more complicated, so it will have to come later before I release anything.

Cheers,

Wogg

it doesn't work..... this part doesn't work and when i run the program it opens and closes and I can't write anything after the exe. So when i run the game it opens it but i can only see one line of the game a couple of pixel long and like 2 pixel height

Wogg, did you take the file down? I got your NFS:U hack running, and this seems to be basically the same idea. Looking forward to trying it.
