I have a ATI Radeon 1600 Pro and my motherboard is an ASUS with Athlon 2.25 Ghz CPU. Should that be enough to run FEAR in widescreen mode at 1680 X 1050? It doesn't run at a smooth framerate on widescreen, but runds good if I go back to the default settings. Is there anything I can do to make it run better in widescreen?

You have 3 choices.

Try turning all the settings down
Overclock your Gfx card/CPU
Buy a new Gfx card.

F.E.A.R is one of the most graphically intense games currently on the market.

This should be in the hardware forum.

Since it's more aimed at FEAR, I'll put it in General Gaming.

But yea, FEAR is rather system intensive. It'll bring even high-end PCs to their knees if you put settings too high.

I don't think you could OC the x1600 enough to get nice framerates at 1680x1050.

I struggled to run Fear at 1440x900 with my 7800GT (with 2GB and an Athlon X2 4200).

The game uses every big of juice the system has.

I can run it above 30 fps on my X1900 and my current setup, but i still cant max out the physics settings without the CPU throwing a hissy fit :).

I have the exact same card ,I run a monitor at that same resoulition. Youll never get past meduim settings with your stated rig. Personally , I play on all low settings .. with less smoke and sparks.. your view of the enemy is alot better . I have a 7800 gs superclocked agp card that runs that game on all high settings at 1440x900.. with a 3.4GHZp4 and 2 gig ram. But i dont play it on multiplayer at that settings because of the advantage you get when you dont see all of the smoke and explosions. - good luck and hope to see you in 'da game
