Hello All,

First post and welcome all I have a few questions to ask regarding eyefinity and gaming.
I have 2x XFX Radeon HD 5870 crossfire (product code code: HD-587X-ZNFC).
Intel core i7 950 3.06GHz (stock).
Japanese Power supply 1200w and i know this is a good part so I'm not worried about that.
Cooler: Corsair H100 (took me some time to fit, things huge).
I have 24GB RAM running 1333 configured in BIOS so I know its done properly and it reads in system information under BIOS.
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
Case: Thermaltake Spedo advance package (love this case)
Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth x58 both cards are running on x16 PCIE 2.0
I have the 11.11 Drivers CCC from the amd site and 11.11 CAP 3 for application profile.
3xDell 24' 1920x1200 = 5760x1200 (I know, its ridiculous)

Okay,

Now my questions.

I know with that big resolution (5760x1200) there will be lag but i did not expect it to grind to a halt when playing STALKER: COP, at most maybe 12 FPS. Half life 2 Lost Coast is about 9 FPS!!! I am very disappointed how i cant even get to those gaming frames, not even close. Is this because of a driver issue? needs time? what gives?

I heard that MSI afterburner works well as a monitoring app, but does this work with XFX 5870 in crossfire? what good monitoring apps are there that i dont need to spend?

Is there a better way to download drivers?" I mean is there a better website where it would show beta drivers or anything that might be better than the amd driver look up? or is it all the same?

I know the 5760x1200 is huge and I figure it would lag but i was hoping to at least play and not brew coffee and watch a freakin slideshow ofr half an hour. I thought STALKER COP could handle this. I tried to disable crossfire and got BSOD lol so i don't wanna do that again.

any suggestions or fixes? please help.

Thanks!!!

That is one beast of a machine

After looking at eyefinity stuff all day in preparation of buying my own setup, I think I know the answer.

Based on your video card, you have 1GB memory on each card. With or without crossfire, you are relying on one card's memory to store all the details of your 5760 x 1200 screen. I believe there is software out there that can tell you how much free memory your graphics card has.

:welcome

The rig you have there is certainly a powerfull one, I would not expect HL2 to run at 9fps, even on my own rig with a single 5870 i get more than 9fps @ 5760x1080.

What speeds do you get when not running crossfireX ?

Have you also checked out this... http://widescreengamingforum.com/forum/forums/multi-monitor-gaming/amd-eyefinity-discussions/18546/eyefinity-crossfire-stuttering-res thread?

I wasn't having crossfire problems until I installed 11.11, not only did I have crossfire problems but frame rate dropped about 25%.
Went back to 10.12 plus 10.12a hotfix problem solved. This was tested with Iracing, AcesHigh and FSX.

thx for the link, I tried turning off crossfire then it BSOD lol. I'll do it again later. I don't know if my resolution compared to yours makes a difference but ill try it out. 5760x1200 really is a freaking huge resolution, and thinking about playing BF3 makes me drool but i still get like 12 frames :(

From the link you sent me seems like i need a AMD system build? I usually prefer the intel builds because i was lets say born into them lol. I really done wanna do an AMD build, thinking of selling those cards for maybe a 6970 2GB or some nvidia card. from my whole experience, crossfire is just all for show, I never knew that it would be this crappy at some points. I mean from the specs of the machine people would think it would run easily. I tried benchmarking with crossfire on for arkham city, 2fps the whole time and whats worse is that i couldn't alt+tab so i just made coffee and waited till it was done, total lag fest.

Hey thx for the update,

So im guessing 11.11 isn't the way to go? where would you find the past drivers? ill google around but was hoping you know the source. what frames were you running with that game and settings plz?

I really wanna try out STALKER COP with my resolution and the mods they have for that game make it look awesome and interactive.

once i install those drivers over again ill post my findings.

I used the uninstall from 11.11 installed 10.12 and then installed 10.12a hotfix on top of the 10.12. Some suggest using a driver sweeper.
It works a lot better for me but mabe not for you .

Hope it helps.
