One thing I noticed with Silent Hill 3 is that the game applies some filters to the graphics that make it look extra grainy and a bit washed out in certain areas. I'm sure this is done for effect. This might be part of the reason you see it as being so "lo-res".

The FOV hack Paddy mentioned works great in the game, BTW.

Hello ...

The "Size" is what sets the screen resolution ... change this in the disp.ini

The "Rendering Resolution" is the size and therefore quality of the textures. set this in the game option menu.
To get it to look better set the Rendering Resolution to 1024x1024 or 1024x512

To remove the grain set the Noise Effect to OFF

Hope this helps ... :D

Hi guys :)

I just tried to edit SH3's disp.ini - which works great unless I want to use fullscreen instead of window.
When playing the game with one of the standard resolutions from the sh3config, fullscreen works like a charm. But any custom resolution (although supported by my notebook) fails. The game seems to switch to fullscreen, switches back to desktop, switches back and forth and so on...

Any idea on this? I'm running the latest Catalyst 4.9, modded to run on my Mobility Radeon 9600 with 1680x1050 display resolution.

EDIT: Also I don't know how to use the FOV tool due to missing numpad on notebook
