Can I play these on a widescreen? Either with vertical black bars or without them?

Etherlords 2
Worms World Party
Diablo 2
Baldur's Gate 2

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

JC

Don't know about the first two, but Diablo 2 and Baldur's Gate 2 are not capable of widescreen. You can play them in 4:3 with black bars down the sides, but filling the screen natively (without stretching)... not a chance. :(

Diablo 2 is either 640x480 for the original game, or 800x600 with the addon. BG2 will allow res's above 800x600, but only 1024x768, 1280x1024 and 1600x1200.

How do you program the laptop to play with black bars down the side?

Instructions for ATi chipsets are early in the thread, I think the ones for nVidia run along the same lines, but are later on.

BG2 and D2 are 2D games. Unless they are designed for widescreen gaming, there would be no way to even hack these types of games without stretching/squishing.

I am a little late to this party. :D

I can get Etherlords 1 & 2 in widescreen but they are unplayable. The HUD does not scale or stretch so the mouse is stuck in the upper left of the screen. No chance.
