This defines 70 degrees as "1". All other degrees are defined as theta/70.

FOV_100, then, would be 1.42857.

In the console, you can type in MaxPayne_GameMode->GM_ChangeFOV(1.4286,0), and it will set the FOV to that. You can also change FOV_70 in the MP2_data.ras file, which is kind of a bitch to edit, but that should permanently change the default FOV.

So far I haven't found a FOV that looks right, however. According to my calculations, if FOV_70 is the default, FOV_85 (86) should be about right for 16:9. FOV_80 should be about right for 16:10. Someone can correct me if my calculations are off.

Interestingly, when I edited the file in MP2_data.ras, so that it should go to the 90 degree value for any FOV, it didn't work until I typed the ChangeFOV command into the console anyway.

I wish I knew why they had references in about widescreen, if they don't use them, though... :?

Hello ...

Does editing the file keep the FOV fixed at 90 or do you have to keep putting the console command in after each cut scene ?

and if so ... how do you edit that sort of file or could you share your edited file ?

Editing the .ras only changes the FOV_70 macro, it doesn't change the default. This isn't surprising, really, but it was worth a try. Perhaps the value is somewhere else in the file as the default; I will check this later today.

Even so, increasing the fov doesn't seem to fix anything. It's as if it simply zooms out. The proportion doesn't seem to really change with a fov change. Luckily for me, at 16:10 Max is squashed, but still bearable. Also some cleaners look a little fat in the midsection :)

It's too bad as I heard the xbox version of this works fine with widescreen. Perhaps that's where those "widescreen" settings come into play.

Paddy, I'm glad you're happy, but unfortunately the FOV is still wrong...it's just zoomed out. Max is too short and stumpy.

Sorry I got a bit confused isn't that the Aspect Ratio ?

The Field of View is wider when you type FOV_90

...and I'd be happier if I didn't have to keep typing it in ... :lol:
Have you figured a way to fix this ?
